Mirror work
You look at your own face until the performance drops, and speak to the child who is looking back.
Use this when: Shame, self-criticism, or the sense that you cannot meet your own eyes.
- 1Sit with a mirror. One candle is enough. Two minutes of looking before any words.
- 2Notice the age that appears. You do not have to name it perfectly.
- 3Speak one true sentence out loud — what the child needed to hear, not what you think you should say.
- 4Write what you saw and what was said. Keep it short.
If the glass makes you freeze or panic, look away. Place a hand on your own cheek instead. The work can wait.
A practiceTonight, look for two minutes. Say: you did not have to earn this looking. Then rest.
